The Tricolor is looking for the dismissal of the 31-year-old left back and a young player who is of interest to the Portuguese club could be fundamental in facilitating the agreement
Sao Paulo is looking for solutions to obtain the early dismissal of left-back Wendell, who is in decline in Portuguese football. In this scenario, the club could involve right back João Moreira in negotiations with Porto.
Although salary and contract length are well aligned between Tricolor and the 31-year-old athlete, the contract with the Dragons only expires in June 2025, which has started to slow down the progress of negotiations. So Moreira can become an asset.
At 20 years old, the youngster, born in Cotia, has already attracted the interest of Porto this season. However, San Paolo rejected the possibility of a loan because they understood that it was an important asset and, therefore, would only leave Morumbis for a very significant sum. But, if the Tricolore were to review some conditions, Porto could facilitate the operation.
Moreira, in fact, has dual nationality and has already been called up to Portugal’s youth team to play in the Under 18 competitions. In 2021 he played with the Portuguese shirt in the Limoges Tournament. A year later, at 17, he was on the list for the Porto International Tournament, but tonsillitis cost him a cut.
The full-back has played just 13 games in 2024 for Sao Paulo, which confirms that he welcomes the move to Portuguese football in the transfer window. In total there are 25 matches and one goal with the tricolor shirt.
