Artur Jorge is close to leaving Botafogo for Al-Rayyan

The coach has already agreed to go to the Qatar club

Botafogo already sees the year 2025 without the presence of coach Artur Jorge. According to journalist Roberta Barroso, from “ESPN Brasil”, the coach had already agreed with Al-Rayyan and would also have commented on his new contract on the return flight after playing the Intercontinental Cup.

According to her, the coach negotiated with the Qatari club without first speaking with John Textor, owner of SAF. This ended up generating unease behind the scenes at the Rio club.

Also irritating the club was the fact that the Portuguese coach had spoken about the possibility of bringing Savarino with him. Furthermore, Alvinegro had no idea how to improve the coach’s salary because his contract had been increased thanks to a million dollar bonus.

Artur Jorge arrived at Botafogo in April, at the start of the Libertadores group stage and the start of the Brasileirão. His work ensured Glorioso won both titles and equaled Santos and Pelé’s Flamengo, since 2019.
