A few days ago, Tomorrow Belongs to Us celebrated five years of its existence on TF1. The anniversary was recently celebrated at a major convention that allowed fans to meet the cast of the series. And which, in terms of intrigue, coincides with the return to the stage of Victor Brune in the best form, finding the evil and Machiavellian side that the audience loves so much.
“I think we’re going to find evil Victor, yes. We’re left with that.”Farooq Bermouga, Brunet’s interpreter, confides to us when asked about the future of his character, who is currently the prime suspect in the Delcourt farmhouse sabotage case that landed Robin Belanger in prison.
Victor Brunet, released from prison last year, subsequently excelled in the comedic register, whether in contact with Moreno or a slave played by Catherine Benguig. And while Farouk Bermouga seems to have enjoyed portraying this one-sided love affair with Georges’ mother (Mayel Elhajaoui), he admits he had a feeling it wasn’t in his character’s DNA.
“The story with the slave was a bit awkward for me”Tomorrow belongs to us, continues Brunet’s interpreter. “It was something that was a little unrealistic, not like Victor. And I feel that he needs to go back to the fundamental values of the character and the drama of the soap.”.
“We had J.R. Dallas, Victor Newman, ‘The Young and the Restless’. People want to see Victor like that. And at the same time, as a counterbalance, Victor has this unwavering love for his son, he would give his life for him. I would give my life for my daughter.”.
Fans who adored the unlikely bond between Mona and Victor will therefore be disappointed to learn that a love story between the two characters is not on the agenda at all. “I don’t think so (laughs). You don’t always have to accept fantasies. Even Oscar Wilde said you should give them up (laughs).”Faruk Bermuga confides with humor.
“It was funny and I had fun filming it, but I found that, dramatically speaking, it didn’t fit Victor. So I don’t think we’ll go back to Victor-Mona, sorry.”.
Will the next episodes of Tomorrow Belong to Us see the love story between Victor and Sophie Novak (Karol Bianick), the unscrupulous lawyer currently helping him escape justice? future will show.
“I wanted to tell you more about what happens to my character, but I don’t know much about the next plots”Farooq Bermuga explains. “I just know it’s a kidnapping story. But I don’t know much more. I want to find out on Monday what I’m going to have to play in the next week or two.”.
Presented in the TF1 series since 2018, the interpreter of the wonderful Victor Brunet says that he is in any case excited about the evolution of his character. Especially since initially he was only supposed to stay in the set for a few months.
“For almost four and a half years I’ve been playing in Tomorrow, which belongs to us. I was only two months at first (laughs). Humanly, it turned my life a little upside down. I stopped working. A little, I had restaurants. Even if I continue to teach classes, in Cours Florent, Enfants Terribles- , and I originally planned to do a six-month trip when production called. So I said yes. Two or three months. Now it’s been over four years..
“I saw the development of Victor” concludes Farouk Bermouga, who will soon appear in the credits of the mini-series The Best of us on France 3. “I believe I have left a mark on a hero. It has become a mark, Victor Brune. It is my pride. And now I allow myself to be offered.”.
