Negative feedback from Linkin Park’s latest album ‘stressed’ Chester Bennington, bandmate reveals
before being in Linkin Park, Chester Bennington formed the Gray Daze beside Sean Dowdell. The former bandmate revealed, in a recent interview with the channel KaaosTV on YouTube that the friend’s mental health was harmed from the disc’s negative feedback One More Light (2017), via Web is Jericho.
“When they made the album One More Lighthe was not received the way they thought, or at least the way they Chester thought it would be received. He received a lot of negativity from fans, and it really bothered him. We talked a lot about it,” he said.
Still, he added: “I don’t understand what makes someone a fan of Chester, and love everything or almost everything he’s done, and then he makes a song you don’t like, and you feel like you need to badmouth him. These things really weighed heavily on him. So I think the negative feedback on the record really contributed to his mental health.”
“He suffered as a kid, and it always weighed heavily on him, and he never felt good enough. He had this inner emptiness that I don’t think he could explain to a lot of people. I knew that side of him very well. He could have had a thousand people. after a show wanting to meet him to tell him how great he was, but internally, he wouldn’t listen to that.” Sean Dowdell.
The two became friends in 1993 after being introduced by a mutual colleague. Together they formed the Gray Dazebut later on Chester Bennington left the group to found the Linkin Park.
