Sam is a law student juggling his studies as a pizza delivery boy. While giving birth, Sam was falsely arrested and charged with a robbery he did not commit. Behind this scheme is hidden Eddie Barra, a famous robber, nicknamed “the pyrotechnician”, who is also his double.

Eddie set up this trap, using their likeness to escape while leaving Sammy responsible for his crime. In prison, Sam is forced to play the role of a robber in order to survive. With the help of Nada, his fellow inmate, Sam tries to prove his innocence and reclaim his identity.

After the surprise success of the comedies Les Segpa (more than 700,000 viewers in France) and Les Segpa au ski (around 1.4 million viewers), both adapted from the 2016 web series created by Hakim and Ichem Bougheraba, directed by Hakim Bougheraba returns. The Sous nuts series was launched in April 2019 by Ichem Bougheraba (alias Ichem Boogy) and Nicolas Delort. The prize: one million subscribers on YouTube and nearly 150 million views. With this success and the band’s previous films, the project logically wanted to become a film.

“We kept the characters, the world, and the tone, but avoided getting too absurd so as not to detract from the dramatic issues.”, explains Hakim Bugheraba, who wrote with his brothers Ali, Iche and Reduan Bugheraba.

“We had fun rewriting the story of one of the web series’ iconic characters, John, played by Brahim Buhlel. You never know if he’s telling the truth or lying!”

In this film, which should capture the teenage and young adult audience during school holidays and holidays, we find the ingredients of the group’s previous comedies: crazy humor, many characters more stubborn than the other and many twists.

“We didn’t want any limitations in production, stunts, fights– Hakim continues to shout.We always shoot the movies we want to see and we really wanted to shoot an action comedy in Marseille.“

Bernard Farse to Taxi Saga

Under the Nuts is particularly inspired by the Taxi films and slightly focuses on the saga with the presence of one of its iconic characters: Bernard Farsi, who played Commissioner Guibert, returns to his police uniform for the film.

“Since Besson’s Taxi, there haven’t been many urban comedies that represent the city and make the city proud. That was our mission with Sous Nuts“, emphasizes Hakim Bugeraba in the film’s intention note.

and added: “We are big fans of Taxi. When we were writing the script with Ali and Ichem, we very quickly saw Bernard Farce in our film. We really wrote his character and his dialogues.

We sent him the script, he liked it. He appreciated the process. Working with Bernard Farsi was a dream. He is a legend, an icon, a monument to Marseille and above all, he is a great actor.

Ichem Bugeraba, Aril Amran, Redouane BugerabaLucille Guillaume and Brahim Buhlel are in the casting.
