According to their annual tradition, Barack Obama began publishing his favorite works of the year, sharing last Friday, the 20th, his lists of films and books.
The former president, known for his eclectic taste, highlighted a diverse set of films for 2024, choosing ten productions that range from big hits to critically acclaimed works. Among the selected films, Timothée Chalamet appears in two works: Dune 2 and A Complete Strangerwhich will be released at Christmas. The other titles included in its list are: Everything We Imagine as Light, Conclave, The Piano Lesson, The Promised Land, The Seed of the Sacred Fig, Anora, youngest and Sugarcane.
Obama’s list has some coincidences with the selection of the 20 Best Films of 2024 by Rolling Stonewhich also included Anora, Dune and Everything We Imagine as Light.

As far as literature is concerned, the first title mentioned by Obama was The Anxious Generation of Jonathan Haidta work that explores the negative effects of smartphones on children and which topped the list of bestsellers in New York Times for five weeks this year. Another highlight was the long-awaited book Intermezzo of Sally Rooney. The list also includes titles such as Someone Like Us of Dina Mengestu and the posthumous memory of the Russian opposition leader Alexey Navalnytitled Patriot.
Although Obama has not yet released its selection of favorite songs, it is expected that this list will be presented before the end of the year. Back in August, he had already shared his songs from the summer, including tracks like “365” from Charli XCX“A Bar Song (Tipsy)” from Shaboozey“Million Dollar Baby” from Tommy Richman and “Chihiro” from Billie Eilish.
