Early last year we offered you a quiz on some memorable trees seen in the movies. As usual, we started slowly with a cartoon of a familiar face of an old lady nestled in a tree branch. Almost 90% of you recognized Pocahontas’ grandmother leaf by then.
As the quiz progressed, the questions got more difficult and for another image where we saw an isolated tree on a small hill with a sign next to it where we could read “For Sale”, you got 15% to answer. Coraline, 15% answered Isle of Dogs and 40% answered James and the Giant Peach. So, a minority recognized the Fox family’s new home in Wes Anderson’s stop-motion film Fantastic Mr Fox.
As for the last question, the main thing was not to get Hitchcock, because the four sentences were the title of a film signed by the master of suspense, to whom we recently dedicated a quiz. The image featured a cross-section of a trunk with various historical dates accompanying the various rings, and then recalled James Stewart and Kim Novak’s walk through Vertigo’s Redwood Forest.
These are again the trees you will be able to find in our quiz of the day, but in the few days before Christmas, of course, there will only be Christmas trees. Nine movies you have to admit you pass perfectly and have no balls…
