The striker returns from loan after a spell at Atlético Nacional with two titles
According to information from the RTI Esportes agency, striker Morelos will be reinstated in the Santos squad for next season after being evaluated by the technical committee and mainly by Pedro Caixinha. The Colombian was loaned out to Atlético Nacional mid-year and remained out of the plans until the arrival of the new manager.
Santos had agreed to loan Morelos mid-year to Atlético Nacional in Colombia with the aim of cutting costs. The agreement included the division of the athlete’s compensation between the clubs and a purchase option set at 5 million dollars (about 31 million reais at the current price).
The Colombian team was interested in staying with the athlete, however the values are considered high and a loan extension became distant after the announcement of Pedro Martins as the new CEO of Alvinegro Praiano and coach Pedro Caixinha.

At Atlético Nacional, Morelos won two titles in 27 games, scored 11 goals and provided two assists. The player was instrumental in winning the 18th Colombian League and the 7th Colombian Cup, the titles guaranteeing a place in the subsequent Libertadores.
Santos fans do not welcome the return of the 28-year-old striker. With the black and white shirt the athlete played 20 games and scored just four goals, as well as providing one assist in the period. The athlete was willing to reduce his salary after Santos’ relegation and started receiving R$395 thousand, however, in the 2025 season, his salary will return to the original value and the athlete will receive R$900 thousand.
