The Lord of the Rings: What happened to Legolas after The Return of the King ended?

We are in the year 3019 of the Third Age of Middle Earth, on May 1st to be exact. Thanks to the brave alliance of Gondor and Rohan and the bravery of the hobbit Frodo, the world was freed from the evil hand of Sauron. As the Hobbits return to their home Shire and Frodo prepares to depart with Gandalf for the undead lands of Valinor, we rightly wonder what has become of the other members of the Fellowship of the Ring.
