In addition to films by Abdehamme Sissako and Alexandros Avranas, the month’s program includes two works by Gus Van Sant, a Nouvelle Vague classic by Agnès Varda and a new film in Brazil starring Nadine Labaki

Synopsis

Synopsis

Aya, a young African woman, leaves her fiance at the altar and the Ivory Coast behind to start a new life in China. Living in an area marked by the African diaspora, she starts working in a tea export store where she meets Cai, a 45-year-old Chinese man. Despite social prejudices, they fall in love, but they will have to face the challenges of their pasts and the judgments of others.

Synopsis

Walt, a young man who works at a convenience store in Portland, falls in love with Johnny, an illegal Mexican immigrant who doesn’t speak the same language and shows no interest in him. ACQUA MOVIE

Synopsis

Cícero, aged 12, finds his father dead in the bathroom, the victim of a heart attack. His mother, who works far from home, films a documentary in the Amazon and returns for the funeral. Cicero convinces her to take her father’s ashes to his hometown in the northeast. On the road, mother and son meet again, strengthening their bond in the heat of the semi-arid northeast, crossed by the channels of the São Francisco River.

Synopsis
