Jon M. Churesponsible for driving the success Wicked (2024) is also the filmmaker behind the long-awaited biopic of the pop princess, Britney Spears. During her red carpet appearance at Golden Globehe spoke about how he wants the film to be a source of pride for the artist and even added that he wants to do “justice” to her story.

“I can’t really talk about it yet,” he told billboardbefore adding, “I’m a huge fan of Britney. I’ve been a fan since I was young and she was young and she was one of the 12 acts at the Shrine Auditorium.”

So I want to do her justice and tell her story correctly. But we’ll see. We are developing now and there is a long way to go.

In another interview, Chu spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about his admiration for the artist: “She represents a generation of people who grew up in the 2000s and late 90s, and she has a story that deserves to be told correctly. There’s a lot about us in it.”

Despite not yet having a screenwriter responsible for the work, Chu assured that he already has an idea about the path the film should take. “I think it’s a lot about how we treat people, young people, the stars we think we have, women, mothers,” the director added. “There’s a lot of things there that I would love to explore.”

Another issue surrounding the work is the selection of the actress who will be responsible for playing the artist, among the names most commented on by fans of Britney this Emma Robertswho commented on the possibility with excitement.

“I mean, it’s my real dream to play Britney Spears. It’s a rumor, but I hope it might come true. I mean, I remember locking myself in my room and listening In the Zone (2003) and said, ‘I can’t leave this room until I memorize every word.’”
