Barcelona takes precautionary measures to try to register Dani Olmo in the Supoercopa

The club expects the body to respond in the next few hours

Barcelona has found yet another strategy to try to overcome the problem of Dani Olmo’s registration. The club has presented a precautionary measure to the Superior Sports Council (CSD) with the aim of making the midfielder available to play in the Spanish Super Cup semi-final against Athletic Bilbao this Wednesday.

The body is equivalent to the Brazilian Ministry of Sports. The document presented by the Blaugrana is 52 pages long and was presented urgently to obtain a response as soon as possible. The club’s expectation is that the response will take place in the next few hours.

In addition to Dani Olmo, striker Pau Víctor is also in the same situation. Both players traveled with the rest of the squad to Saudi Arabia, where the team will compete in the Spanish Super Cup.

Last Saturday, La Liga and the National Football Association reaffirmed the cancellation of the players’ registrations, after another appeal attempt by the club. The two entities reiterated that Barcelona did not respect the economic rules to keep the two players registered.

It is worth mentioning that the problem with Dani Olmo’s documentation is because the club has exceeded La Liga’s financial fair play rules. However, the club managed to rotate the midfielder when Andreas Christensen suffered an Achilles tendon injury and paved the way for the player’s entry into the first half of competitions.

However, his release is only valid until December 31st and since then the Blaugrana have been quick to resolve the situation. However, their advances were denied by the bodies.

In the last summer window, Dani Olmo returned to Barcelona in a transfer worth around €55 million (around R$340 million, at the time) to RB Leipzig. Although he has a contract until June 2030, the player has a unilateral termination clause in his contract which would see him leave the club for free.

Without knowing whether they will be able to count on Olmo, Barcelona will take the field against Athletic Bilbao, in a match valid for the semi-finals of the Spanish Super Cup. The competition will take place in Saudi Arabia and the teams will face each other at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium, Jeddah.
