Vincent Lyndon and Benjamin Voisin will be playing with Fire in theaters from January 22nd.
The film tells about Pierre, who raises his two sons alone. Louis, the youngest, succeeds in his studies and easily moves forward in life. Fus, the boss, walks away. Fascinated by violence and the balance of power, he became closer to far-right groups, contrary to his father’s values. Pierre witnessed helplessly the influence of these associations on his son. Little by little, love gives way to misunderstanding…
For his role in the film “Playing with Fire”, Vincent Lindon received the Wolpe Cup for Best Actor at the Venice Film Festival. Benjamin Voisin, nominated for Best Young Actor at the 2022 César Awards for “Lost Illusions,” plays the dangerous and hypnotic Fuss, defying paternal values. Alongside him, Stéphane Crepon, who also won a César for Best Young Actor in Peter von Kant, plays Louis, a perfect cadet who overshadows his brother.
Directed by Delphine and Muriel Culin, Playing with Fire is inspired by Laurent Petitmangin’s novel Ce que il peut de nuit. This social and political drama is particularly relevant to the current climate: “In the 2012 presidential election in France, a majority voted for the left, and in the 2024 European elections, a majority voted for the RN. What happened during these twelve years?asks Delphine Kulin. For us, the story of Pierre, who no longer recognizes his son, is the story of the whole country.”
In addition to these political divisions, the film questions family ties and the existence of love that would be unconditional. How do you face the ones you love when their ideas become vulnerable?
As personal as it is universal, Playing With Fire is in cinemas from Wednesday 22nd January.
