French cinema is more popular than ever in the United States! While Jacques Audiard’s Emilia Perez is well on her way to winning multiple awards (including 4 Golden Globes already in her pocket) and while French director Coralie Farger shines with body horror The Substance, it’s the Count of Monte Cristo’s turn. Seduce the American public!
Adapted from the works of Alexandre Dumas, directed by Pierre Nin, the film was first released privately in the US territory, in a limited combination of theaters (4 screens).
3 weeks after its release and thanks to favorable word of mouth, its presence in the United States increased tenfold to 93 screens. Logically, his attendance percentage jumped, +1.018%!
According to adjusted operating figures released by the Box-office Mojo site, The Count of Monte Cristo moved from 33rd to 17th at the US box office late last week.

A very warm reception from Anglo-Saxon critics
Is this success in the United States a surprise? This is a logical continuation of a very successful career that began at the Cannes Film Festival, where the film was very well received, without competition. Anglo-Saxon critics really liked the film, as evidenced by the US reference site Rotten Tomatoes.
On his X account, in conjunction with the film’s release across the Atlantic, Pierre Nini shared some excerpts from this warm welcome:

In France, the film received a total of 9,347,220 participants. It has recently arrived on Canal+ and its myCanal platform, with great success (more than 1 million viewers were there on its first show for the channel’s subscribers).
