Bret Easton Ellis admitted that, ‘if there is [nova adaptação]’, he is not involved; rumors pointed to Luca Guadagnino as director and Austin Butler as protagonist
Bret Easton Ellisauthor of the book that inspired the film American Psycho (2000), believes that news about a new film adaptation is false.
In October 2024, it was announced that Luca Guadagnino would be behind the unreleased feature film. The film would focus on the novel published in 1991 and would not be a remake of the first version, starring Christian Bale.
Robert Pattinson would have been considered to play the protagonist Patrick Bateman. In December, the Variety confirmed that the role would, in fact, be Austin Butler.
