The duo, as unique as they are unlikely, is created on the day of the launch of a new Prime Video production called The Gardener. This Friday, January 10th, the Amazon platform will release an action comedy that brings together action movie legend Jean-Claude Van Damme and former Morning Live troublemaker Michael Yun.
The film tells the story of a close adviser to the President of the Republic, who is pursued by assassins after his name accidentally appears on a list of people to be killed. His only hope is Leo, much more than a simple gardener.
The cast of David Charron’s feature film also includes Ragnar Le Breton, Jerome Le Banner and Kaaris as a trio of burly brutes. Comedian Nawel Madan also appears in the film’s credits as the wife of Michael Yeun’s character.
In the great tradition of French comedies
The gardener takes the codes of the action comedy carried by the duo, which are completely opposed as a worthy successor, namely the films of Francis Weber, La Grande Vadrouille or Taxi Saga. A genre that David Charhon has already explored in his previous films, and especially in The Last Mercenary, which already featured JCVD.
The film seems to have a series of action scenes as well as punchlines. The role of gardener Leo seems tailor-made for Jean-Claude Van Damme, and comic support seems to be provided by Michael Yeun and a group of broken arms in pursuit.
The action comedy The Gardener is now available exclusively on Prime Video.
