Venezuelan adversary thanks Italy for “continuous support”

The leader of the Venezuelan opposition, María Corina Machado, thanked the Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Antonio Tajani, this Sunday (12th), for his closeness to the people of the South American country.

“Thank you for your continued support, dear Minister Tajani. We Venezuelans know that we can count on the Italian people and that very soon our compatriots living in your country will be able to return to reunite with their families in Venezuela.

It’s time to move forward together,” the former Liberal MP said on his social media.

Last Thursday (9), after Machado had been arrested by hooded agents as she left a demonstration against Nicolás Maduro, president of Venezuela, Tajani had called for her “immediate release”, condemning “the repressive and illegitimate actions of the regime”.

The opponent also thanked the G7 and the European Union for the support provided, especially “for the firm position in defense of popular sovereignty expressed by Venezuelans and against the coup d’état”.

“The democratic world supports us and will move forward, together with Venezuelans, until we gain our freedom,” Machado said. .
