This Sunday, 24th, Cine Petra Belas Artes will screen the classic German film Me, Christiane F., thirteen years old, drug addict, prostitute within the Belas Sonoriza project, which includes the live accompaniment of David Bowie’s classics.
The session was organized to celebrate the album’s 50th anniversary The rise and fall of Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders from Mars by David Bowie and the 40th anniversary of the film Me, Christiane F., thirteen years old, drug addict, prostitute. The live soundtrack will be in the hands of André Frateschi and from Band of Heroesexperts in the execution of David Bowie.
The film is based on the journalists’ book Kai Hermann and Horst Rieckwho has received testimonials from the Christiane F on the problem of drugs and prostitution among adolescents in Berlin in the 70s. In the film, the actress Natja Brunckhorst plays Christiane and portrays the situation of poverty and violence that the young woman has experienced, getting involved in theft and consumption of alcohol. The scenario becomes even more serious when Christiane starts going to the Sound nightclub and becomes acquainted with heroin and prostitution.
David Bowie participated in the production of the film when he played himself at a concert at the Sound, the artist was Christiane’s favorite singer. However, Bowie’s connection with the film doesn’t end there. He signed the soundtrack a Me, Christiane F., thirteen years old, drug addict, prostitute with songs from the 3 albums he produced while living in Berlin: From station to station (1976), heroes (1977) and low (1977).
In addition to the songs that make up the film’s soundtrack, the audience will also enjoy the presentation of the songs from the album. The rise and fall of Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders from Marsdepicting the bisexual alien, Ziggy stardusta character created by Bowie who became famous around the world and became an icon of fashion, culture and sexuality.
Live music will be presented by André Frateschi and Miranda Cassin on vocals and for the band Heroes, formed by Angelo Kanaan (drums), Renato Cortez (bass), Fernando Coelho (guitar) and Tiago Sormani (saxophone).
