From Basil Rathbone to Peter Cushing, Christopher Plummer to Robert Downey Jr. via Benedict Cumberbatch and Jeremy Brett, to name a few actors, Holmes’ (non)adventures have often produced sensational films and series. A beautiful mystery

However, the inventory would not be complete without adding the mystery of the pyramid. In 1988, director Barry Levinson made a big splash with Rain Man. But two years earlier, for one of his first films, the American had fun depicting the adventures of a young Sherlock Holmes. And it’s a dream team that surrounds him, as Chris Columbia is on the script and Steven Spielberg is at the helm of the production. The portrayal of the young detective, Nicholas Rowe (not to be confused with the British playwright of the same name), was then particularly notable on television.

Nominated for an Academy Award for Best Visual Effects, thanks to the striking sequence of the knight emerging from the stained glass window, which was the first character to be fully animated in computer graphics, inserted into the frame with real actors; Driven by a fantastic sense of rhythm and a soundtrack by Bruce Broughton, this variation of the legendary detective’s youth is a little gem of an adventure film. In 2012, Paramount was planning a remake of this Marvel movie. Fortunately, we haven’t heard anything more about it.
