Cameron Diaz52 years old, is back on screen after a decade away from cinema. The actress, who has two children, Cardinal, 10 months, and Raddix, 5, with her husband Benji Maddenrevealed in an interview that her priority during this period was motherhood and her wine company, Avaline.

In a behind-the-scenes chat about his new film, Back in Actionproduced by NetflixDiaz said he had no plans to return to acting until he received a special invitation from his friend and co-star Jamie Foxx.

How do you say ‘no’ to Jamie Foxx?”joked the actress. “If there’s anyone I would spend months on set having fun and laughing with, it would be him.”

During the hiatus, which began after his performance in Annie (2014), Diaz explained that he declined invitations to public events and training. “I said ‘no’ to everything”he stated. “I was focused on being a mother and living my day to day life.”

I was trying to survive, like every mother,” she shared. “Just trying to keep things going.”

Diaz also mentioned that she hopes her new film allows children to see their parents from a different perspective. “Every parent has that fantasy that their children could see them as they were before carrying the weight of the responsibility of being parents”he said. “And maybe, just maybe, they’ll believe us when we say, ‘I was pretty cool.'”

Back in Actionwhich marks Diaz’s return to cinema, also reunites the actress with Jamie Foxx, with whom she starred in Any Sunday (1999) and Annie (2014). Diaz’s return was announced in June 2022, when Foxx commented on the invitation in an interview with Entertainment Tonight: “It was literally, ‘Do you want to have fun? Just have fun!’. And I think that’s what brought her back.”

Foxx described her as “a unique actress who brings lightness and fun to the set.”
