The Brazilian actress has spoken to several media outlets — and one of them made a mistake regarding Fernanda Montenegro
Fernanda Torres remains committed to its schedule of interviews abroad to promote I’m Still Here. Recently awarded the Golden Globe of Best Actress in a Drama by the interpretation of Eunice Paivathe actress has spoken to relevant vehicles and programs, such as Jimmy Kimmel Live, Variety, Live with Kelly & Mark, Collider, Entertainment Tonight, Deadlinebetween others.
Another notorious means of communication with which the artist spoke was W Magazine. In this case, however, the chat was marked by a curious situation involving the protagonist’s mother, also an actress. Fernanda Montenegro.
As pointed out by CNN Brazilthe journalist responsible for the interview stated, with the verb in the past: “Your mother was a very famous actress”. It sounded as if he was saying that Montenegro — also part of the cast of I’m Still Here — had already passed away. Immediately, the daughter interrupted and said:
“Was it? She still is! She just joined the Guinness Book [Livro dos Recordes]. It’s unbelievable!”
Next, Fernanda Torres highlighted one of her mother’s upcoming works: Victory. The work is inspired by the real story of Joana Zeferino da Paz (known by the pseudonym Dona Vitória), who, using a camera, recorded the movement of criminals directly from the window of his house in Rio de Janeiro with the aim of collaborating with the police.
“She just finished a film, at 95 years old. My mother thinks the best thing there is is theater. She almost pities those who don’t know about the pleasures of theater. She had a thousand lives on stage.”
Finally, the youngest Golden Globe winner highlighted the importance of her parents’ career in theater in her own professional career. In a good-humored tone, he declared that there was “no escape”.
“She came from a very simple family. Through theater, she lived the life of queens, assassins, whoever she wanted. I was raised in the theater, my father was also an actor, also called Fernando. And they named me Fernandaso I couldn’t escape, you know? I spent a lot of hours in therapy.”
