Netflix: Guillaume Canet and Marion Cotillard’s son makes his acting debut in the world’s number 1 movie!

The young actor made his debut in Netflix’s new thriller Ad Vitam, and by the time he hits the screen, he’s already made a name for himself. Because Marcel Canet is not just anyone, because he is the son of two icons of French cinema: Guillaume Canet and Marion Cotillard.

At only 13 years old, the young boy is already ready to follow the same path as his parents. Thus, he appears on screen in a small role (he lends his qualities to the character of Antoine, midway through the film) in an action thriller written and directed by his father. Ad Vitam is also enjoying huge success on Netflix, as the film is currently the most viewed film on the platform worldwide.

Guillaume Canet did not decide to have his son appear on the screen, on the contrary. The 51-year-old actor has always expressed his desire to let his children choose their own path. But given that Marcel wanted to try his hand at acting, it seemed logical for the director of Little Handkerchiefs to offer him his first experience on the set himself.

Guillaume Canet’s advice to his son

“From the moment he wants it, we’re bound to put our foot down, just as much as I’d rather it be with me.” Guillaume Canet said in an interview for the show 50′ inside. “Then we’re keeping a close eye on it because we know it’s a little young to begin with!

If his association with two of the greatest actors of French cinema can be considered an advantage, Guillaume Canet, for his part, considers his status “child” May be a burden to his child: “I think it can be more of a disadvantage because there can be too much expectation from people.”

For Guillaume Canet, the best way to learn the profession of an actor would be to hang on Marcel’s shoulders: “It is a job that requires you to put yourself often, there are times when you will have buckets, and it can be difficult at times (…) We live like this, I think this is the best school for him.”
