Corinthians president says he insists on the vote scheduled for this Monday taking place and rules out an injunction to veto the deliberative council meeting
The president of Corinthians, Augusto Melohe does not intend to file a new injunction to prevent his impeachment from being voted on this Monday. On the contrary, he is already in favor of the vote and shows confidence, believing that there will be no approval.
“It will not be passed. There will not be a coup. I insist on this vote. The Corinthians cannot go through this vote. These are people trying to regain power. I won the elections democratically, seven years in a row. Let them do it himself,” he said while participating in Esporte Record, the network’s new program, presented by Cleber Machado.
The debate on the topic takes place at the Corinthians headquarters, in Parque São Jorge, with calls at 6pm and 7pm. The possible reckless management of the president will be discussed in this first year at the helm of the club, especially the contract with Vai de Bet, former main sponsor of the club.
The agreement is being investigated by the Civil Police and the Public Prosecutor of São Paulo, on charges of qualified theft, embezzlement, private corruption in sport and money laundering. The sums paid by Corinthians to an intermediary were passed on to another company, treated as orange by the investigations.
However, when Augusto Melo is asked what accusations are made against him, he himself replies that there is no basis. “That’s what we want to deal with. That’s why I demand that this actually happens, to put an end to this. There’s nothing against my administration. Because there’s no evidence, there’s no kind of thing…,” he said and disconnected: “I brought more than R$1.8 billion in revenue for Corinthians.”
“They begin to denounce the impeachment by omission. But omission in what? If there is nothing. They begin to look for something in the egg”, criticized the president, who had already underlined the request for impeachment for having refused blackmail, which he said again this Sunday evening.
Memphis arrived in September. The monthly salary would be 3.5 million reals, with a contract until July 2026. Even with the transfer from the sponsor, Corinthians would pay part of the sums. However, the report of geunderlined that the amount would be higher than estimated, reaching R$120 million.
You would also need a house in a gated community, an apartment for your consultant, armed private security, two armored cars with a private driver each, 24 business class airline tickets between Brazil and Europe, a private chef, and a skybox at Neo Arena Chimica.
President Augusto Melo denied that the agreement achieved such value and summarized his speech on the subject by justifying that the “leak” was an attempt to hit him politically.
