The new season begins on January 28 with new maps, game modes, bug fixes and gameplay improvements
Activision has announced that Season 2 of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone will begin on January 28th. Among the new features there will be a crossover event involving “The Terminator”.
Additionally, players will have five multiplayer maps, over six new weapons, a new Zombies map, limited-time Valentine’s Day-themed modes, and more.

New multiplayer maps for BO6
Five new maps will be added to Black Ops 6, including three at launch (Bounty, Dealership, Lifeline) and two mid-season (Bullet and Grind).
- Size (6v6): The penthouse suite of a local crime boss;
- Dealership (6v6): Battle in the luxury car dealership Pallascar;
- Lifeline (2v2/6v6): A small, sophisticated yacht still burning after the successful boarding of Sev and his allies;
- Bullet (2v2/6v6): Duel on a moving high-speed train;
- Grind (6v6): The famous skatepark 1 that first appeared in Call of Duty: Black Ops II makes its debut in Black Ops 6 mid-season.
New multiplayer modes
A new mode and the return of a beloved match type kick off the update with a bang, while two new limited-time modes celebrating Valentine’s Day will be coming to the game later in the season.
- Overload (launch): Teams compete in Team Deathmatch to be the first to reach the maximum number of stars. Earn these stars by performing different tricks.
- Gun Game (Throw): The fan-favorite gun game is back! Compete in a free-for-all mode where all operators start the match with the same starting weapon and use the same pool of 20 weapons, which vary from match to match.
- Filming – Holding the sail (During the season): Not everyone is hungry for love. Some people just want to do things their way. In this mode, the player can bring friends to fight in 3v3.
- Doubles competition (during the season): This is strictly for doubles. Battle in a moshpit of 2v2 Face Off modes, including Face Off Team Deathmatch, Face Off Domination, and Face Off Kill Confirmed.
In addition to the new modes, multiplayer receives a number of gameplay updates with Season 2, including the “Super Fast” (launch) and “Hunter’s Instinct” (mid-season) perks, the new “War Machine” score series ( launch ) and the wildcard “Mata-Moscas” (mid-season). The mode will also feature quality of life improvements and new settings in ranked matches.
Zombies mode
- The Tomb (new map): The cursed catacombs guard the passage to the Dark Aether. Here, the player must search for the legendary artifact “Sentinel”.
- Additional game content: Keep all threats in sight with the addition of the Death Sense perk, including new upgrades to further enhance abilities. Additionally, the player will be able to try out three new Kill Gums and use a powerful grenade launcher.
- New enemy type, Mythic weapon and more: Face the electrifying “Shock Mimic” creature, wield the deadly Ice Staff, deploy a new type of player-controlled trap with “Aetheric Lanterns,” and target enemies with the Arrow Trap.
- Quality of Life Updates: Co-op pausing, challenge tracking, custom HUD settings, and more are coming in Season 2.
Gameplay improvements for Warzone
The focus of this update for Warzone will be to prioritize gameplay changes, quality of life improvements, and bug fixes. These updates will roll out gradually, with several significant changes expected mid-season. The main goal is to ensure an optimized experience for players.
In addition to the changes, players will have access to a full range of content in Season 2, including maps (Area 99, Urzikstan, Rebirth Island) and modes (Battle Royale, Resurgence, Loot), as well as Battle Royale ranked in the launch leaderboard. Events like “The Terminator” and “Shadow Hunt” will be available in the first few weeks, along with the season’s new core weapons and shared content.
The update will also bring new perks, such as Reactive Armor (at launch), which regenerates armor, and Fair (during the season), which improves movement speed when crouching, prone, and when on the ground. Also get ready for a new season of ranked play in Battle Royale, which includes all-new rewards.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S and can also be played via Game Pass.
