Entitled Werwulf, the next film in Robert Eggers’ career will have a script written by the filmmaker in collaboration with Sjón
The director Robert Eggers has just released the most recent film of his career, titled Nosferatu (2024), in cinemas and there is already a new project on the horizon. The filmmaker of The Lighthouse (2019), The Witch (2015) and The Northman (2022) will direct Werwulfa werewolf horror film set in medieval England.
According to information from the The Hollywood Reporterthe unprecedented production will take place in 13th century England, with dialogue and accents faithful to the time, as well as translation and annotations to help the public understand it. Originally, it was going to be a black and white feature, but the idea was discarded.
The script will be written by Eggers (who is only interested in making films set in antiquity, such as Viking Iceland and horror in the 17th century) alongside Sjónwho also wrote The Northman with the filmmaker. Werwulf is scheduled to hit theaters in the United States on December 25, 2026.
