End applause for La Faute à Rousseau… France Télévisions has decided not to renew the series for a 3rd season, according to reports from Paris.
Launching in February 2021 on France 2, this adaptation of the Spanish fiction Merle follows Benjamin Rousseau, an atypical, non-conformist and irreverent philosophy teacher who will try, with the concepts he teaches, to give his students the tools they need to live and live. The future that awaits them. Carried by Charlie Dupont, La Faute à Rousseau tried for two seasons to show that philosophy can be concrete.
The series written by Agath Robillard and Thomas Boule did not find a place on France 2, which decided to stop here. However, La Faute à Rousseau showed great stability during its season 2 broadcast last May.
The first episode of season 2 managed to gather 2.87 million viewers, while the finale was watched by 2.47 million curious people, or 12.4% of the public and 8.0% of women under the age of 50 (FRDA-50).
This second burst of episodes averaged 2.55 million viewers, or 13.1% of the four-and-over public and 7.2% of the FRDA-50. Compiled from eight episodes versus six for Season 2, Season 1, which aired during the limited period in 2021, attracted an average of 2.83 million curious people, an audience share of 12.5% of the total public according to Médiamétrie.
The numbers are slightly below the average for France 2, which has decided to freeze spending to focus on new projects, in particular the production of mini-series events.
