Renault focuses on conventional hybrids; The plug-in is lateral

The brand of the brand states that complete hybrids are “the easiest way to obtain low consumption and prepare land for electric cars”

In the current energy transition in the automotive world, each brand chooses its strategy. And Renault seems to have defined his. The French brand will offer all types of energy matrix, but will focus on a specific: conventional hybrids that do not need to carry out out, such as Toyota Corolla. Who declared that he was Fabrice Cambolive, CEO of Reanult, in an interview with the British website Pás.

“We decided to bet on complete hybrids because for me this is the easiest way to have low consumption cars and to prepare our customers to go to the electricity,” Cambolive said to publication.

The decision, however, is contrary to other brands (and some rivals) in Europe, such as BMW, Toyota, Volkswagen and Volvo. In Europe, 31% of sales on the continent by 2024 were light or complete hybrids.

Renault currently has only one plug -in hybrid in the wallet: Rafale – which also offered with a complete hybrid. In the PHEV version, the medium ray SUV combines a 1.2 Turbo Gasoline three -cylinder engine with three other electrics. The 22 kWh battery gives the model the power to run 100 km without spending a drop of fuel.
