“The Night Agent” is a series of suspense and espionage of Netflix which debuted in 2023 and is already in season 2. It is based on the novel of the same name in Matthew Quirk and accompanies Peter Sutherland (Gabriel Basso), an FBI agent involved In a complex political conspiracy by serving a connection on an emergency line for secret agents.

Throughout the series, Peter combines Rose Lankin (Luciane Buchanan), a young entrepreneur whose uncles have been murdered due to government secrets. Together they reveal a network of corruption that threatens national security.

In the first season, Peter discovers a plot that aims to assassinate the President of the United States. With the help of Rose, he can contrast the attack, exposing the traitors within the government and saving the life of the president. The season ends with Peter promoted to Field Agent, opening the way to new missions and challenges.

What happened at the end of the second season of the Netflix night agent?

The second season, consisting of 10 episodes, was released on January 23, 2025. In it, Peter Sutherland faces a new threat: Markus (Michael Malarkey), leader of a terrorist group that plans a devastating attack during a United Nations meeting New York. Peter and Rose work together to prevent the attack, facing moral dilemmas and decisions that test their integrity.

In the final episode of season 2 of “The Night Agent”, Peter and Rose Lankin work together to prevent a chemical attack planned by Viktor Bala in New York. They can identify and neutralize the KX cylinders, the lethal chemical that would be used in the attack. During the operation, Rose is forced to shoot Markus Dargan to prevent him from performing the terrorist plan.

Political consequences and moral dilemmas

Peter, inadvertently, contributes to the fall of the rival candidate, Patrick Knox, providing compromising tests. To maintain Monroe’s trust and dismantle his network inside, Peter agrees to become a double agent for the FBI, facing ethical and personal dilemmas.

The partnership between Peter and Rose is tested throughout the season. After the intense mission, both suffer from the trauma of experiences lived.
