Cate Blanchett as Conductor and Composer in Tar: First Trailer

Focus Features has released the first trailer for Todd Field’s new film Tar, starring Cate Blanchett. In it, the winner of two Oscars played the fictional outstanding conductor and composer Lydia Tar. According to the story, she becomes the first female conductor of the Berlin Orchestra in history.

In addition to Blanchett, “Tar” starred Nina Hoss, Naomi Merlan, Mark Strong, Julian Glover, Allan Corduner, Sophie Kauer and Sylvia Fleet. The film is produced by Field, Alexandra Milchan and Scott Lambert. The musical accompaniment of the tape was handled by Hildur Gudnadouttir, who previously worked on the TV series “Chernobyl” and “Joker”.

The premiere of the film will presumably take place during the Venice Film Festival – it will be held in 2022 from August 31 to September 10. Tar will hit theaters on October 7th.

Todd Field previously directed Eyes Wide Shut and In the Bedroom. “Tar” will be Field’s first directing project since the melodrama “Like Little Children.” The tape with Kate Winslet and Jennifer was released 15 years ago.
