Benjamin Levy Aguilar made his debut as Agent Dante Torres in the second half of Season 9, when the inexperienced cop temporarily associated with Detective Halstead , who was not thrilled with the task. Now, Term reports that Aguilar has been updated to the regular status of the series for season 10, which will premiere on September 21 in the regular Wednesday night time slot. Since the departure of Lisseth Chavez in the role of Vanessa Rojas (whose absence remains to be explained in the two seasons since she was canceled from the show), the number of intelligence cops under Voight has been five: Halstead, Upton, Atwater, Burgess, and Ruzek. This means that there is often a strange escape when it comes to associations, and that strange escape is usually Atwater.
Halstead and Upton have collaborated steadily since the beginning of Tracy Spiridakos’ time Chicago police, and that certainly won’t change 100% since they got married. Burgess and Ruzek often team up whenever the show focuses on their occasional romance and / or Makayla, which often happened in the second half of season 9.

I could PS split the partnership with Upstead to make Halstead and newcomer Torres work, just like PS Separate them temporarily to pair Upton and newcomer Rojas in season 7?
Ultimately, we can only speculate until the show returns for season 10. Hopefully the addition of a sixth cop means three collaborations and a more even distribution of screen time, but I can see PS deal with it in different ways.
Will Torres be Halstead’s new partner and will Upton team up with one of the others? Will Torres be Burgess’ partner and will Ruzek and Atwater meet more often? Sara PS Staying with Upstead and Burzek and separating Atwater from Torres? Or just confuse the partners from week to week, depending on the deal of the week? And what happened to Rojas?!?
Okay, maybe I’m the only one still wondering what happened to Rojas between seasons 7 and 8, suddenly leaving the intelligence unit, but I’m still hoping for an answer. For now, fans can count on seeing more Benjamin Levy Aguilar as Officer Torres and counting the weeks before discovering how his presence changes the dynamics of the unit.
