Fernanda Torres can become the eighth winner and the first Brazilian to take the statuette
In the History of Oscaronly seven actresses from non -English -speaking countries won the Best actress. Swedish Ingrid Bergman was the first to win in 1945 for Half-lightand again received the statuette in 1957, for Anastasia, the forgotten princess. Since then, only five other artists from outside the United States – United Kingdom have received the awards.
Only two of them won acting in films recorded in a language other than English: Sophia Lorenin 1962, by Two women (Italian), and Marion Cotillardin 2008, by Piaf: a hymn to love (French).
