Kim WooWarner Bros. Studio Operations Global Post-Production Creative Services Executive has been selected to receive a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Hollywood Professionals Association (HPA). It will be presented at the HPA Awards on November 17 at the Hollywood Legion Theatre.
In his current role, Waugh oversees creative teams, installations and operations in Burbank, New York and London. This includes the company’s mastering, localization, archiving and preservation business units. Waugh currently oversees the construction of the company’s new post-production facility in London.
He started his career at Soundelux, a sound editing company run by Lon Bender and Wiley Statman. He started out as a sound engineer before rising through the creative ranks for facilities management, eventually taking on a partner role. His field record has earned him film credits including Congratulations, Braveheart, JFK s alone at home.
Waugh, Bender, and Statman received the 1994 Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Technical Achievement Award for developing the Advanced Data Coding System, a tool used to create a database and encoded timecode track during the initial broadcast of sound journals. . Waugh joined Warner Bros. in 2004 as Head of Post Production Services (PPS) and in 2007 he became Senior Head of PPS. In this role, he oversaw the acquisition of the assets of the De Lane Lea postal facility in London. Waugh later joined the Technical/Cinematic Operations Group at Warner Bros. on PPS.
