A-ha: The Norwegian trio announce new album and film with recording process


The film “True North” will be released in cinemas around the world in September and will be accompanied by the release of a new album in October.

Norwegian trio A-Ha has announced new projects for 2022, the film and the album True north. The worldwide release of the film is scheduled for September 15, while the album is scheduled for October 21, according to Sony Music Entertainment Premium Content and the announcement of Trafalgar Releasing on Thursday.

According to the advertising material, the initial idea of ​​the film was to record the first studio recording located just 90km above the Arctic Circle. However, the project was not limited to a single take. The group joined the Norwegian orchestra Arctic Philharmonic and, from the collaboration, the projects expanded and gave life to the album and the film.

The audiovisual production documents two days of recording in Bodø, Norway. The film, however, goes beyond recording the group’s work and behind-the-scenes scenes.: it is an expanded vision of the trio on the connection with the environment. “True north is a letter of ah-ah from the Arctic Circle, and a poem from the far north of Norway “, keyboardist of the band Magne Furuholmen explained in a note.

Directed by director Stian Andersen, the film also aims to tell life in the north of the European country through actors who portray the region. “It was a great pleasure to write and create the narrative to match the beautiful songs of the ah-ah in this film, “comments Andersen, in a note.

On July 8, the band released the song I’m inside, single from the eleventh studio album. The music video is taken from the film which will be released in September. Since 2015, the group had been at a standstill when they released the album Cast steel.

True north it is not the band’s first contact with long audiovisual productions. In 2021, the story of the trio responsible for success face Me was told in the film A-ha: The moviewhich was officially released on Tribeca Film Festivalin New York on June 12.
