X-Men: The Amazing Reason Taron Egerton Turned Down a Mutant Role

Did you know that British actor Taron Egerton turned down the role of the mutant Cyclops in “X-Men: Apocalypse”? And he said no for a very specific reason!

We’re currently talking a lot about him getting Hugh Jackman to play Wolverine. But did you know that Taron Egerton was already very close to playing another mutant in the X-Men saga? The British actor, currently seen in the Apple series Black Bird, was indeed offered the role of Cyclops in X-Men: Apocalypse, but turned it down for a very specific reason.

“Honestly, if the conversation never took off, it was because I didn’t want to play a character for a possible series of films where I wouldn’t see my own eyes.”– says Taron Egerton at the microphone Sirius XM radio show Sway In The Morning.

“Instinctively, creatively, I felt that the eyes are the windows of the soul”continues the 32-year-old actor. “I found it difficult, I just didn’t find the prospect intriguing. So it’s not that they never offered it to me, there was a discussion, a real discussion, that never went away.”
