Operation Free Fall occurred jointly, between the civil police and military brigade
On the morning of Wednesday (02), the civil police, through the fourth murder and protection police station (4th DPHPP/DHPP), in collaboration with the military brigade, launched Operation Free Fall. The offensive aims to dismantle part of the structure of a criminal group linked to the criminal organization based on the bell valley. So far, five people have been arrested.
According to the delegate André Luiz Freitas, the action is focused on the arrest of the suspicions of torturing and stabbing a 11 years, within a condominium of apartments and subsequently abandoned his body in a moat at the southern extreme. The crime took place on March 5, 2025.
“This morning, the police took up eight pre -cultivation detention mandates and 20 research and seizure mandates in Porto Alegre, Charqueadas and Rio Grande, aiming at the custody of suspicions and obtaining further evidence from the criminal conduct, as well as the withdrawal of firearms, drugs and illicit objects that are in possession of the group,” said Delegate Freitas.
The people investigated have a record for various crimes, such as murder, theft, drug trafficking, illegal possession of firearms and theft.
The Director of the Department of Murder and Protection of people, the delegate Mario Souza, underlined: “The strategy of the state murder department is to act within the protocol of the 7 measures to face the murders. Today we use the measure no. 5, which is the conduct of the police operations against the criminal group that insists in committing murders”.
