The mayor Ricardo Nunes (MDB) declared on Monday 14 that it is necessary to have a “careful look” at the PEC of security and criticized the police officers saying that it is not necessary to have someone who “speaks of punishment” to the agents continuously.

“It is important that the government has the initiative […] But there are some problems that must be corrected, such as the issue of Corregedorias. According to him, punishments could discourage agents to go to the street to face the crime.

The event was organized by the members of Brazil Livre Movement (MBL) and led by the councilor Amanda Cars (UNIão Brasil), who presented a package of invoices against crime.

The proposals have been separated between topics: cultural, economic and structural combat. Among the approximately 20 projects there are a PL against flannel, IPC for abortion and mandatory hospitalization.

The secretary of the public security of San Paolo, Guilherme Derrite (PL), and the vice mayor, Colonel Mello Araújo (PL), were confirmed during the event, but did not participate. Mello Araújo informed the Estadão which also suffered a delay in the agenda.

The theme of public security was the main agenda of the management of Nunes, which has already indicated the interest in the launch to the state manager, generating friction with the governor Tarcisio.
