The star of ‘Kingsman’ and ‘Rocketman’, Taron Egertonhas revealed why turned down the role of Cyclops in the prequels of the Fox’s ‘X-Men’ -yes, it is somewhat confusing, that is why it is convenient to consult the order of the films of the mutant universe- and the reason is not what one would expect.
In a radio interview with Sway’s UniverseEgerton was asked why he decided not to play the superhero role before the mutant franchise was taken over by Marvel.
“I don’t mind saying it, it was a real thing. It was a real conversation,” he began. “And, to be honest, I’ve never actually said this, the reason that conversation never went any further is because I didn’t want to play a character for a potential series of movies where my eyes are not seen“.
“I felt instinctively and creatively that the eyes are the reflection of the soul. It just didn’t seem like an intriguing perspective to me. So it’s not like it’s ever been offered to me, there was a conversation. an actual conversation that never went beyond“.
Tye Sheridan ended up playing Cyclops in ‘X-Men Apocalypse’ and ‘X-Men: Dark Phoenix’ (here the ‘X-Men: Dark Phoenix’ review). Where will both movies rank in our ranking of all the X-Men movies, ranked from worst to best?
