“Minions 2” tops the box office in Brazil

“Minions 2: The Origin of Gru” recorded the largest box office in Brazil over the weekend, with R $ 8 million raised between Thursday and Sunday (31/7), according to data from Comscore.

The biggest animation of 2022, Universal’s production has already been seen by over 5.3 million viewers and, after five weeks in theaters, accumulates a total turnover of over R $ 97 million in Brazilian cinemas.

Its success left no room for competitor “DC Liga dos Superpets”, which debuted with R $ 5.65 million in front of an audience of around 285,000 since Thursday (28/7). As a result, it was only the third most viewed national film in the period, even behind “Thor: Amor e Trovão”, which earned R $ 7.2 million.

Since its release on July 7, the Marvel superhero movie has earned BRL 107.3 million and attracted 5.4 million viewers in Brazil.

In all, cinemas sold 1.38 million tickets and earned R $ 29.4 million over the extended weekend, the lowest figures in the past four weeks.
