Actress Betty Faria has joined the cast of the “Codex 632” series, a suspense production that will be shot in Portugal. The actress will play a woman with Alzheimer’s who killed her husband. The character knows the secrets and is persecuted, but the disease complicates everything.

Scheduled for 2023, the production is a partnership between RTP, a public broadcaster in Portugal, and the Globoplay platform.

The production is based on the bestseller by José Rodrigues dos Santos. The story follows Tomás de Noronha, a university professor involved in an investigation that, if made public, could fundamentally change the collective perception of world history. Expert in cryptanalysis and ancient languages, the character tries to decipher a cipher and a secret: the identity and the true intention of the mission of the navigator Christopher Columbus to “discover” America.

Released in 2005, “Codex 632” was the first of Tomás de Noronha’s adventure books, which became a franchise with more than a dozen published titles.

Portuguese actor Paulo Pires, known to Brazilians for his participation in the 1990s soap opera “Salsa e Merengue”, by Globo, plays the lead role. He was also recently featured on the Spanish Netflix series “White Lines”.

In addition, the production will see the participation of other Brazilian artists: Deborah Secco and Paulo Borges.

The adaptation is in charge of Pedro Lopes, who wrote the Portuguese series “Glória”, “Conta-me como Foi” and “Auga Seca”, as well as several soap operas.

Registrations have already started in Lisbon. And in September, the scenes will be shot in Rio.
