Project project of the Porto Alegre Chamber project to monitor humans in the capital

The proposal aims to strengthen public health actions with mandatory notifications to the municipal health secretariat

The municipal council of Porto Alegre has started the processing of a bill that determines the mandatory notification to the municipal health secretariat (SMS) of cases of zoonosis and viral diseases transmitted by pets to humans. The text is by the Director Vera Armando (PP).

According to the project, it will be up to SMS to create and maintain an updated database with record of these occurrences. The secretariat will also be responsible for informing the population and healthcare professionals about forms of prevention, as well as for the execution of inspections and the application of hygiene measures necessary to contain the spread of diseases.

Another expected point is the adequate destination of the animals killed by the zoonosis, which should be addressed to solid waste management services or qualified health facilities, following the SMS guidelines. The goal is to avoid further contamination risks.

The proposal aims to allow continuous monitoring of cases, based on reliable data, which, according to the justification of the project, will support the formulation of effective public policies in the struggle and prevention of these diseases.
