Cinemadenzel Washington receives honorary gold palm at the Cannes Festival

Denzel Washington(Gladiator 2) was surprised on Monday (19), during the Cannes Festival, with the delivery of the Honorary Gold Palm, becoming the 21st artist to receive the tribute.

The ceremony took place during the world premiere of Highest 2 Lowestnew movie Spike Lee(Infiltrated at Klan), starring Washington. Visibly thrilled, the actor expressed deep gratitude to being awarded the prize, delivered by his longtime collaborator, the Spike Lee.

Highest 2 LowestIt is a remake classic Heaven and hellfrom Akira Kurosawalaunched in 1963, who follows the story of an executive about to purchase a shoe factory, who receives a call saying that his son was kidnapped and, to save him, would need to use all the money he has accumulated in his life.

The feature marks the fifth time Spike Lee and Denzel Washington work together, then More and Best Blues (1990), MALCOLM X (1992), Decisive play (1998) and The perfect plan (2006). The cast of the film-which opens at the Cannes Film Festival this month, and in August in US theaters, but has no debut date in Brazil-still has Jeffrey Wright (The Batman) and rappers A $ AP ROCKY and Ice Spice.
