Cinemais Araujo can play Elza Soares in biography; understand

A movie about the singer’s life Elza Soares It is under development. According to Varietythe project will be directed by Fernando Meirelles(City of God2002) and will be starring Taís Araújo in the role of Elza. The script is signed by Patricia Andrade (Two children of Francisco, 2005 ) and Viviane pistachio.

Production will be in charge ofO2 Moviescompany led by Meirelles next to Andrea Barata Ribeiro and Paulo Morelli. Still unpaid for debut, the long search portray the intense and striking trajectory of one of the greatest voices of Brazilian music. Andrea commented on the importance of telling this story:

“Elza Soares was a phoenix. From extreme poverty to stardom, and then to oblivion, to the death of her children, undone marriages … this black woman with unparalleled talent survived and lived in a world that did not open her doors easily. Her biography carries an immense amount of drama and resilience.”

“If she were American, she would be compared to Ella Fitzgerald,” he added.

The trajectory of Elza has already inspired other works, such as the musical Elzain which different phases of the artist’s career were interpreted by actresses as Janamô, Julia Tizumba, Késia Estácio, Khrystal, Laís Lacorte and Veronica Bonfim.

In honor of the three years of her death, the artist was also the subject of the documentary I am her son. The production accompanies the oldest son of the singer, João Carlos SoaresCarlinhos, who recalls striking and exciting moments with his mother.
