President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva declared on Thursday that he wants to complete the commercial agreement between Mercosur and the European Union by the end of the year, with Brazil in the rotating presidency of the South American block in the second half and asked the president of France Emmanuel Macron, who “open the heart” to the possibility of the agreement.
Speaking of a statement to the press together with Macron in Paris, Lula also argued that the commercial agreement between the two blocks would be the best response to the return of unilateralism to the world. The French president was one of the main opponents of the agreement.
