Marvel film is scheduled to open in February 2028; Paper was written especially for Washington
The actor Denzel Washington was confirmed in the cast of Black Panther 3scheduled to debut in February 2028, according to the screenwriter and director Ryan Coogler. The statement was given during Coogler’s participation in the podcast 7pm in Brooklynreleased on Thursday (5).
“Denzel is a family at this point … I’m trying to work with him since day one,” Coogler told presenter Carmelo Anthony.
“I think he’s the biggest living actor, and in terms of what he represents for our culture, no talk. I’ve been talking to him about it for a long time.”
In November 2024, Washington himself had publicly commented on negotiations with Coogler, surprising even the director.
“I was surprised when he mentioned, but it’s not like it wasn’t true,” Coogler commented on the podcast.
At the time, during an interview with the program Australian Todaythe actor stated:
“Ryan is writing a role for me in the next Black panther. After that, I will make the movie Otelo. Right away, King Lear. After that, I will retire, ”said Washington, according to Variety.
At 70, Denzel Washington said that at this stage of his career, he chooses projects based on the creative team involved:
“For me, it’s about the filmmakers. Especially now, I’m just interested in working with the best. I don’t know how many movies I will do. It is probably not many. I want to do things I haven’t done yet.”
In addition to Marvel’s new feature, the actor is also confirmed in Highest 2 Lowestproject directed by Spike Lee. Coogler, during the podcast, showed enthusiasm:
“I’m very excited. That trailer-the monologue … Denzel is in rare form. I have no words to say how excited. When Spike and Denzel come together, a masterpiece always comes out.”
Recently, Ryan Coogler Launched the movie Sinnersstarring Michael B. Jordan, Hailee Steinfeld and Miles Catondebut in May 2025. The feature follows two twin brothers who return to hometown to start over but face an even greater threat when returning.
Black Panther 3 will be the third chapter of the franchise started in 2018 with the film starring Chadwick Boseman.
