Putin highlighted with Netanyahu need for “diplomatic solution”
Russia offered to mediate the crisis between Israel and Iran after the call of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his counterpart to Tehran, Masoud Pezeshkian.
In order to avoid a “dangerous climb of the situation after Israel’s military action against Iran”, Putin highlighted Netanyahu the need to resolve the question through political and diplomatic means, says the Kremlin.
“It has been agreed that the Russian part will continue to keep close contacts with the Iranian and Israeli leaders in order to resolve the current situation, which is full of disastrous consequences for the entire region,” said the Russian government, who condemned Israel’s actions against Tehran.
“Israel violated the letter of the United Nations and international law,” said the Kremlin, adding that Putin sent “his condolences to the people of the Islamic Republic of Iran in relation to the numerous victims, including civilians, caused by Israeli attacks”.
