After apparently canceling the release of the Batgirl movie, Warner Bros. made an announcement about the DC brand’s plans for feature films.
What are the plans of Warner Bros. Regarding DC jobs? After Batgirl left the shelves and the failure with The Flash, fans feared that the studio would put the Expanded Universe project on hold.
At the event, which focused on the firm’s second quarter results, Warner CEO David Zaslav spoke about it.
“Look at Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, these are brands that are known all over the world”she said. “Being able to expand their world through their stories is a unique opportunity for us.”he continued.
“We have started from scratch to restructure the entire business. A dedicated team will now focus on the current 10-year DC plan”he announced.
The big Warner boss admitted at the time that his models were from Disney, led by former Bob Iger and its creative director Alan Horne. The keys to the Marvel Cinematic Universe are Kevin Feige’s inspiration for David Zaslav.
“Our plan will be similar to the structure that Bob Iger and Alan Horne put together so effectively with Kevin Feige at Disney. We believe we can build a successful business around DC. The movies are high quality.”he reassured her.
In a sensitive question about Batgirl’s cancellation, Zaslav insisted that Warner wouldn’t release the feature film until it was 100% ready. “We don’t make films just to fill the boxes.
The question becomes: how do we make sure our movies are as good as possible? And when it comes to DC, we have many levers for improvement. And we’re going to focus on that.”he confided.
Then Zaslav wanted to express his excitement about the future works of DC, including Black Adam with Dwayne Johnson, Aquaman 2 or Shazam 2. As for Flash, it is still scheduled for June 2023, despite the escapades of its main actor Ezra Miller.
The speech also comes amid Lady Gaga’s confirmation in the upcoming Joker 2, which is expected in October 2024. Batman 2 is also in the works, still with Robert Pattinson.
On the other hand, there’s still no news of a Justice League sequel after the recent reshoots and Zack Snyder’s version. Additionally, fans are calling for Henry Cavill to return as Superman.
Pending more details, the next DC movie to hit theaters will be Black Adam on October 19th.
