The contract signed by Santos will begin to apply this Thursday

Santos has started a new cycle of sustainability by signing an environmental partnership with the Ecofaxine Institute. The first joint action will take place on Thursday (June 26), at 9 in the morning (time of Brasilia), in Ponta da Praia, in front of the post of the firefighters in Santos.

The initiative was made official in May and is part of a long -term project that aims to unite sports, private sector and civil society in environmental awareness actions, focusing on the health of the oceans. The debut of the collaboration will be marked by the 197th Voluntary Action of the Institute, with the collection, screening, classification and counting of solid waste taken from the sand strip.

The event will be present by the player Carol Baiana, as well as by the mascots Baleinha and Baleião. Before the collection, there will be a short environmental class, lengthening and delivery of equipment for individual protection to volunteers.

The activity will be promoted by Arkema, sponsor of the village sirens. The company, which operates with special materials and sustainable solutions, supports the cause in the context of its global environmental responsibility strategy.

The Ecofaxine Institute, in turn, operates since 2008 in the city of Santos and has mobilized over 6,500 volunteers in almost 200 shares, with consequent removal of about 95 tons of water ecosystems. The institution is recognized for the development of projects focused on the recovery of degraded areas and on the fight against marine pollution.

“The goal is to expand the awareness of waste impacts on the oceans and stimulate collective participation in solving this problem,” said a representative of the organization, commenting on the launch of the new stage with the Santos Club.

Currently, Santos already develops other social actions through the “well beyond football” program, which tries to promote inclusion, solidarity and equality on different fronts, using sport as a transformation tool.
