Adaptations from one media to another are one of the most common practices of the cultural industry in search of commercial success. Within this, transforming the outstanding films into series has become a recurring strategy – as the cases of “Fargo”, “Bates Motel” and “Cobra Kai” show.

10 series inspired by films
Alien: Earth (“Alien” franchise)

An adaptation almost ready to get out of the oven is “Alien: Earth”. Based on the “Alien” franchise, the future series is already in a post-production phase and should debut by mid 2025 in the United States of FX on Hulu. Probably “Alien: Earth” will be launched in Brazil for Disney+. The production will present 8 episodes.
The plot takes place two years before the events of the film “Alien – The Uncinger Passenger” (1979), acting as a prequel. In the synopsis released, after a spaceship falls on Earth, a young woman and a group of soldiers discover something that places them in front of a great threat to the planet.

The cast includes Sydney Chandler, Timother Olyphant, Alex Lawther, Samuel Blekin, Essie Davis and Adarsh Gourav. Created by Noah Hawley, the series will follow the characteristic science fiction and terrorist model of the franchise.
IT: Welcome to Derry (“It: The Thing” and “It: Chapter two”)

Another adaptation very close to leaving is “It: Welcome to Derry”. The future series will act as prequel for the films “It: The Thing” (2017) and “It: Chapter two” (2019), works based on the novel of the same name by Stephen King.
The series is in a post-production phase and has On the paid channel HBO, in the United States. It will probably be released in Brazil by the Max platform. Andy Muschietti, director of both films, is one of the project developers.
It has been announced that the series will have three seasons, set in 1962 (season 1), 1935 (season 2) and 1908 (season 3).

The cast presents Bill Skarsgård, who will resume the role of the clown Pennywise. Other names of the main cast are Jovan Adpo, Chris Chalk, Taylour Paige, James Remar and Stephen Rider.
Elle (prequel of “legally blonde”)

The iconic comedy “Legally Blonde” 2000 will win a prequel series. The production will be called “Elle”, the name of the protagonist of the original sequence of 2001 and 2003, lived by Reese Witherspoon. It is even the company founded by Witherspoon, Hello sunthat the project is producing, which has started shooting in April 2025.
The future degree explores the years of the adolescent high school Elle Woods in the 90s, before the events of the original film. The actress Lexi Mineree will play the protagonist.

Considered one of the best cinematographic films of the Suspense Master Alfred Hitchcock, the classic “indiscreet Window” is about to obtain a standard format adaptation.
One of the main names involved in the development of the project is the screenwriter Kevin Williamson, known for writing the slasher “Panic” (1996) and the creation of the “Dawson’s Creek” and “The Vampire Diaries” series.
The production is still in pre-production, one step before the start of the filming. There is still no official release date and not even information like the cast have been revealed. Williamson will be the screenwriter of the series, who will be launched on the Peacock platform.
Launched in 1954, the original “indiscreet Window” follows a photographer (James Stewart) confined to his apartment after breaking a leg. He bored himself in his wheelchair, spends his time to spy on his neighbors through the window with a binoculars, until he testifies something that leads him to suspect a murder. Grace Kelly also starred in the film.
Lives in the game

In addition to “indiscreet Window”, Kevin Williamson is also involved in the adaptation of “Lives on Stake”, Suspense and Mystery of 1997 directed by David Fincher, the same as “Se7en”, “Fight Club” and “The Social Network”.
In the plot of the original film, a banker (Michael Douglas) receives from his brother (Sean Penn), for his birthday, an unusual gift: participation in a mysterious game that has turned upside down his life.
The screenwriters of the film, John Brancato and Michael Ferris, act as executive producers of the series, together with Kevin Williamson. The project is pre-production and does not yet have a debut date.
Head of fear

The psychological suspense “Cabo Do Fear”, a 1991 film directed by Martin Scorsese, will also become a series. The project is original of Apple TV+ and presents Scorsese himself in executive production, together with Steven Spielberg. The series is still in pre-production, scheduled for 2025.
With 10 episodes announced, the plot follows a couple who has their life transformed into torment when Max Cady, a well -known killer linked to their past, is released by prison.

Javier Bardem will be the protagonist of the series as Max Cady, who lived by Robert De Niro in the original film. The cast also presents Amy Adams as the couple’s wife and Patrick Wilson, whose role has not yet been released. Bot BARDEM and Adams also sign executive producers.
“Cabo Do Fear” is a remake of “Circle of Fear” (1962), which in turn was based on the novel The executionersPublished in 1957 by John D. MacDonald.
New York bands

Another film by Martin Scorsese should get a serial version: “New York bands”. The project is in pre-production from Miramax, with Scorsese himself confirmed as an executive producer. There is no synopsis, a cast, a debut date or an announced display platform.
Released in 2002, the original film portrays the dispute of the 19th century New York band. With Leonardo DiCaprio, Daniel Day-Lewis and Cameron Diaz, the film was based on the book of non-fiction by Herbert Asbury.
Rich

The successful romantic comedy “Rich Rich” (2018) is planned to become a series on the Max platform.
Acclaimed by public and critics, the film is based on Kevin Kwan’s book. The story accompanies a Sino-American teacher (Constance Wu) who travels with his boyfriend (Henry Golding) in Singapore, where he will meet his parents. However, he only discovers that his boyfriend’s family is one of the richest in the country.
So far few information has been released on the future series. The project is pre-production and has not yet been announced. Adele Lim, one of the writers of the original film, will be the showrunner. Director Jon M. Chu is credited as an executive producer.
King Kong

Disney+ is producing a series of giant Gorilla King Kong, a character created by director Merian C. Cooper and who appeared for the first time at the cinema in the classic 1933 film, co-director by Ernest B. Schoedsack.
The project is based on the franchise of “King Kong of Skull Island” by Joe Devito, an official expansion of the work created by Cooper, with illustrated books, graphic novels and multimedia projects. The franchise focuses on the origin of King Kong and Skull Island.
Still without an official title and without debut forecast, the series will have the screenplay by Stephany Folsom and the executive production of James Wan (franchising “Invocation of Evil”), through Atomic Monster.
Harry Potter

A series of Harry Potter live-action is being developed. Scheduled in 2026, the production will be broadcast on HBO and will later arrive all over the world from the Max platform.
According to information, the project will adapt a book by season, for a total of seven in all. Actor John Lithgow has already been confirmed as Dumbledore. In IMDB, there are also Paapa Essiedu as Snape, Janet Mcter as McGonagall and Nick Frost as Hagrid.
In May, Hbo announced the names of the Dominic McLaughlin trio, playing the protagonist Harry Potter; Arabella Stanton, like Hermione Granger; and Alastair Stout, giving life to Ron Weasley.
