Weekly requests for unemployment assistance in the United States descend to the lowest level in six weeks

The number of Americans who submitted new requests out of time went down to the lowest level in six weeks last week, but the total of people who continued to receive the benefits after the initial week remained at the highest level in almost four years of the week before.

The initial unemployment requests decreased from 4,000 to 233,000 in the seasonal adjustment – the smallest since mid -May – on June 28, said the Department of Labor Thursday. The economists consulted by Reuters have provided for 240,000 requests for last week.

The total number of people in the lists of the benefits remained unchanged in the week closed on June 21, to 1.964 million, which is the highest level from the fall of 2021.
