The initiative celebrates the importance of preserving audiovisual memory, as well as offering the public the chance to know or revisit fundamental works of world cinematography.
Among the titles, the public will be able to watch theFrance(2013), a drama starring Greta Gerwig (Barbie) and that its director, Noah Baumbachdefined as a “Road Movie that goes nowhere”, Statement that describes the main character well, as well as the generation Millenium. Already in Jackie Brown(1997), a movie of Tarantino Quentinthe plot accompanies Jackie (Pam grier, Foxy Brown), a flight attendant who, at age 44 and with few future prospects, is involved in a web of blackmail, police and criminals, after being caught carrying money to a weapon trafficker.
Then it is the turn of: Fargo – A comedy of errors (1996). The work begins with an important warning: “The world is full of complaints, but the fact is that nothing is guaranteed. It doesn’t matter if you are the Pope, the president of the United States, the man of the year. Something can always go wrong“. In Fargo Everything goes wrong, but in the manner of the coen brothers.
In Eternal brightness of a mind without memories (2004), the couple Clementine (Kate Winslet, Titanic) and Joel (Jim Carrey, The Maskara), of opposite personalities, live a troubled relationship. After the end, both undergo an experimental treatment and delete the memories and lived moments they had from the other to avoid suffering. But Joel regrets in the middle and tries to rescue the happy memories. The notion of time and perspective gains more intense outlines by outlines the relationship between people who love each other, but cannot solve emotional issues to be together.
Pepi, Luci, good and other girls (1980), the first feature film of the young and beginner self-taught director Pedro Almodóvarpresents a whole restlessness of strong political burden, starring the actress Carmen Maura. Seen today, the fun work illustrates in the first film of the director themes that would accompany him throughout his career as dysfunctional families, violence against women or minority groups, dictatorial regimes, sexuality. Produced totally independently, the film was recorded on weekends over almost a year.
Another fundamental work, A stranger in the nest (1975), will also be displayed on the show. In the plot, Randle McMurphy (Jack Nicholson, The enlightened), a criminal who pretends to have mental disorders to avoid work in prison is sent to a psychiatric hospital. There, he comes to live with patients and, aware that he has no mental problems, uses the place to enjoy his freedom, behaving like the “crazy” that expect him. He won the five main awards of the Oscar (film, direction, actor, actress, adapted script), a rare achievement to this day in the history of the awards.
Cinephils can also contemplate a delicate portrait about choices in the work Encounters and mismatches (2004), according to Sofia Coppolathe drama follows the unlikely meeting of two foreigners in Tokyo: Bob (Bill Murray, Zumbilândia), an actor visibly bothered by the decaying direction of his career; and Charlotte (Scarlett Johansson, JURASSIC WORLD: restart), newly married and is in the same country accompanying her husband photographer from a rock band. The film translates into subtle images and gestures the mismatch between the past and the future, between experience and uncertainty, creating a sensitive reflection on time, choices and the search for meaning in the midst of the chaos of modern life.
